Dance Umbrella (2018)

SHOREDITCH TOWN HALL, LONDON

Dance Umbrella is London’s international dance festival, celebrating 21st century choreography across London.

CRXSS PLATFXRM elevated the underground, uncovering hidden genius from within London’s street culture and beyond as part of Out the System, curated by Freddie Opuko-Addae. Featuring a live freestyle dance battle, presented in collaboration with Rain Crew, experimental sounds and multifaceted performances from Paris-based Gonzy and established and under-the-radar artists, gathering to drive forward an ever-morphing scene. With nods to fashion, art, music, tech and film, this showcase combined highlights from the summer edition in Peckham including new work from visual artist, Izaak Brandt and extra features specially brought together for Dance Umbrella.

Featured artists and activities included resident DJ Kofi-M, Gonzy, Rugged Estate, Izaak Brandt’s Fatigue sculpture commissioned by CRXSS PLATFXRM and curated films themed around Street Culture and newly commissioned Female Skate Film, Skate Liberte.
